“Drastic issues are highlighted through tourism. Aircrafts' exaggerated effect on the environment and tourists relentless procedure to destroy both nature and culture. The project explains a solution to these problems by illustrating an alternative,” explains industrial designer Thomas Tzortzi of his Eunoia Airship concept design.

The zero emission, helium-filled, zeppelin-shaped solar blimp is designed to provide non-polluting luxurious eco travel for the discerning tourist. Powered by solar energy, the Eunoia accommodates eight people while providing a constant visual feast via various viewing areas and decks. An economy-travel version that can carry 60 passengers is also in the works.

This idea is amazing but it only exists in the virtual world at present. Next year will be very different as Northrop Grumman and HAV are going to build the real thing, thanks to 517 million greenbacks from the US Army! Now that is not peanuts, so the resulting 3 hybrid airships or HAV 304's (A high flying version of the Skycat series) will be one big serious hybrid airship and they will also be building a cargo version. So if you want a solar powered monster hotel for round the world fun, why not buy a Skycar cargo version, slap a layer of thin film panels all over the top and fins and wire it all up to some Siemens electric motors, with a few batteries and 2 diesel generators for a cloudy day or night flying.

Very nice image, but where is the propulsion? I see no engines, intakes or exhaust ports.
Also, 8 people? Is that including a pilot an engineer and a steward of some kind? Then you only have five paying customers. Seems like a lot of expense to support five people at a time.

The one thing airships have is room. It takes so much area to generate lift, you could easily make a gigantic space available for passengers, so a larger airship would be better. Make it like a floating hotel that always has a great view, and you would make the project more economically viable.

Just a thought.
