Oscar winning writers and filmmakers, the Coen brothers, are the latest celebs to lend their voice and skills to helping American quit its coal habit. The Coen brothers have directed a new advert for the Reality Coalition working to raise awareness about the ugly side of the coal industry. The humorous video attempts to sell the product Clean Coal Clean, a new air freshener that supposedly works just as well as clean coal.

“We were excited to be part of this important project and tell another side of the ‘clean’ coal story,” said the Coen
brothers.

Launched last December with a multi-million dollar national ad campaign, the Reality Coalition formed to tell a
simple truth – in reality, there is no such thing as “clean” coal. As the nation enters a critical period of debate
about clean energy, the Reality Coalition is continuing its efforts to debunk the myth of “clean coal.”

Coal-fired power plants emit almost 40% of the United States annual carbon dioxide emissions and burning coal also emits mercury. In fact, coal-fired power plants are one of the largest sources of human made mercury pollution in the USA.
