Philips Electronics recently launched its new long-life MASTER LED (light emitting diode) lamp range. Their new LED range features LUXEON â Rebel LED technology and is considered to be a good quality alternative for incandescent, halogen and compact fluorescent lamps.

The lights have an energy savings of up to 80% when compared with standard dichroic low wattage halogen lamps and incandescent spot lamps and come with a long life of up to 45,000 hours.

LEDs can last up to 45,000 hours with 70% lumen maintenance, typically around 50 times longer life than standard incandescent lamps.  LEDs produce a cool beam with no UV or IR radiation, very important where foodstuffs are concerned. These new lamps also start instantly, unlike compact fluorescent lamps.
