Tibet’s spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, has added his voice to the climate change din before Copenhagen. Speaking in Sydney, prior to the start of an 11-day tour and lecture series in Australia and New Zealand, the revered Buddhist figure and Nobel Peace Prize winner spoke about the need for both individual and collective action on climate change.
"In my own case I never use bathtub, only shower. Whenever I leave my room I always put off my light," explained Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, to a news conference, according to Reuters. "Taking care of the environment ... (is now) part of my life. Taking care of the environment should be part of our daily life.”
The 74-year old Dalai Lama added the comment that governments need to act in the world’s best interests in dealing with climate change.
