Questionable Travel Advert

As all eyes are on Copenhagen, some still think climate change is a joke or even something to capitalize on. Take this travel advertisement for the Canary Islands encouraging people to “Say No To Winter Blues” with a woman dressed in summer attire walking next to a polar bear.

The advertisement, first reported by UK-based Do The Green Thing, is tasteless and trivializes the serious nature of global climate change.

“Add to this the launch timing of the first week of Copenhagen - the most significant global political event of our lifetime to tackle the civilization-threatening issue of climate change, widely symbolized by, iconic images of polar bears - and it borders on outrageously offensive,” explains Do The Green Thing of the travel advertisement.

The No Winter Blues website also features a video where a woman sips cocktails on the beach and plays Frisbee with a polar bear.
