The good folks at CO2Now.org recently released a statement that atmospheric levels of CO2 in November 2009 were the highest they have been in more than 2.1 million years.
In November 2009, atmospheric CO2 was 385.99 parts per million (ppm), according to scientific data released by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in the United States.
One year earlier in November 2008, the atmospheric CO2 was 384.11 ppm according to CO2Now.org. Currently there are no strategies in place to reduce CO2 levels back to what are considered the upper safe limit of 350ppm.
Atmospheric levels of CO2 have not been at 350ppm since the late 1980s and CO2 levels continue to rise at unprecedented rates over the last few decades.
