The world’s first folding electric bike – the YikeBike mini-farthing concept uses technology and design innovations to solve the problems of congested and polluted cities. Looking like a cross between a tricycle and a Segway, the electric YikeBike travels at 20kph (12.4mph) and can accelerate to top speed in a few seconds with its 1.2-kW electric motor. The lithium phosphate (liFePO4) batteries take about 20 minutes to charge.
Weighing less than 10kg (22lb) with air in the tires and a full battery, the YikeBike is designed to be folded up into a small backpack when not in use. The total folded volume is 40 litres (1.4 cu.ft).
