Canadian entrepreneur Peter Sandler has created the Solar Bicycle, otherwise known as the E-V Sunny Bicycle. The 100% solar powered bicycle has panels built into the wheels to charge the batteries and power the 500-watt motor fitted to the front wheel hub. The E-V Sunny Bicycle’s top speed is 30kph (18.6 mph) and has a power assisted range of around 50km (31 miles).
The bicycle weighs a whopping 75lbs (34kgs), including the 17Ah batteries, so it may be a little difficult to push when you run out of green-powered energy.
The E-V Sunny Bicycle price tag is CS$1,295 (US$1,216) with solar panels, or C$795 (US747) for an update kit for existing bicycles.
