The Scubster.

The Scubster is a French human powered submarine that recently completed its first sea trials in the Côte d'Azur (French Riviera), France. Scubster is fabricated from carbon fiber, and has been built in France by an eclectic team, including designer Minh-Lôc Truong and various university engineers.

The sub dimensions are 13.78ft x 7.87ft x 4.92ft (4.2m x 2.4m x 1.5m) and it is designed to travel at 6.2mph (10kph) with human pedal power driving the two wing mounted propellers. Internal controls allow the submarine to maneuver up, down, left and right, including pitch control, forward and reverse. It can also dive to a depth of 6m (20 ft).

The Scubster is scheduled to take part in the 2011 International Submarine Race held at Maryland’s Naval Surface Warfare Center-Carderock Division from June 27 to July 1.
