The world’s smallest, single seat, all-electric powered airplane completed a seven-minute maiden flight at Le Bourget airport, Paris, France. It has been developed by partners EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space), Aero Composites Saintonge and the Green Cri-Cri Association. The Cri Cri is actually a technology demonstrator, proving hybrid propulsion concepts that may find their way into EADS helicopters.

The all-electric Cri Cri can cruise for 30 minutes at 110km/h (68mph, 59knots) or zoom around doing aerobatics for 15 minutes at speeds of up to 250 km/h (155mph, 135knots), with zero CO2 emissions for the time it is in the air. The Cri Cri uses advanced engineering, such as a lightweight composite airframe to offset the weight of the high energy density lithium batteries, and four brushless electric motors driving four counter-rotating propellers.
