Europe-based aircraft manufacturer Airbus has created a conceptual design for a futuristic Concept Cabin scheduled for completion in 2050 that is engineered to create an intelligent interface between passenger and plane. The Concept Cabin will include holographic golf, a transparent cabin fuselage, aromatherapy treatments, mood lighting, antioxidant and vitamin enriched air, and virtual shopping rooms.

“Personalized zones replace traditional cabin classes to offer tailored levels of experience. While taking a hop between destinations, passengers in 2050 could join an interactive conference; enjoy a game of virtual golf; read the kids back home a bedtime story; and recharge in a ‘vitalizing seat’ whilst watching the planet spread out beneath their feet,” explains the Airbus' press release.

Although billed as being a “…whole new flying experience inspired by nature…” the design concept does seem a tad heavy on luxury. However, Airbus is promoting the Concept Cabin as part of their ‘Future by Airbus’ program that includes technologies to reduce fuel burn, emissions, waste, and noise. The Concept Cabin will be 100% recyclable and will also be capable of harvesting passenger body heat to power cabin features.

Visitors at the Paris Airshow “Le Bourget” can check out the Airbus’ Future of Flight film, a 360 planetarium movie at the Musee de l’Air et de l’Espace from June 20th-26th, 2011.
