Solar Power Eco-Camper

Modern hippies have long despaired of the energy inefficiency of the Volkswagen Van – hard to be green when you drive an aged relic from the 60s. Well, modern day environmentalists who enjoy the roomy availability of the Volkswagen Van, but want the modern benefits of hybrid technology efficiency and green energy combined, will love the new eco-van and camper concepts from Verdier.

The Verdier Company is taking ‘reserve’ orders for their high-quality van and camper concept vehicles. The Solar Power Eco-Camper has a hybrid engine, solar panels, a sun-tracking device, and has a self-sufficient energy system starting at US$129,000. The Ground Power Microbus also has a hybrid engine and solar panels and retails at US$69,000. There are 3 variations to choose from - the Woody, Geeky and Ebony.

The concept vans feature lots of luxurious options that don’t seem very green including leather material, a home theatre, an on-board computer, a refrigerator, freezer and an alarm system. Overall, we are not sure how practical these concept vans are and if they will ever become a reality, but like all concept designs it sure feels great to dream.
