In an attempt to revitalize the German sex industry, Thomas Goetz of the Berlin brothel Maison d'Envie, is now offering an eco-discount to customers who arrive by public transport, on foot or bicycle. Guests are required to show proof of a valid Berlin public transport ticket and/or proof that they arrived on bicycle to receive the Öko-Preis (eco-price). The eco-price worked out to be approximately a $4.50 reduction on a 30 minute session which regularly costs about $55.
“Obviously we hope that the discount will attract more people," brothel owner Thomas Goetz explained to Reuters. "It's good for business, it's good for the environment - and it's good for the girls."
Prostitution is legal in Germany and more than 400,000 individuals work in the sex trade.
