Waterless Public Urinal

E-mail Print

Urban environments are becoming increasingly crowded, and with the crowds come more problems with hygiene and waste disposal. In order to alleviate stress on city streets and to save water, Mexican designer Miguel Melgarejo has come up with a clever solution to minimize the unhygienic practice of urinating on public streets.

Axixa (urine in Nahuatl) is a public urine concept design that encourages people to urinate in one place, while minimizing the mess of urine spraying in all directions. The design requires no water. Once the Axixa is full, the urine can be emptied into a nearby sewer system.
