In a bid to keep their 225-year-old wool-mill operation thriving, Yorkshire-based textile manufacturing company Hainsworth has come up with a novel use for their excess wool – sustainable and bio-degradable coffins.

The Natural Legacy coffins' line offers an alternative to traditional wooden coffins, with each reinforced casket capable of holding a body weighing up to 380kg (840lb). Each biodegradable coffin is created from the wool of three sheep and features cotton lining, with jute handles. Available in natural white and brown colors, the dye-free coffins range in price from US$960 to US$1,290 (€664-€893).
