Paper Wear, from American designer Laura Sansone, is a brilliant contemporary clothing line made from 100% recyclable Tyvek, a material commonly found in envelopes. The fashionable and cutting edge clothing looks surprisingly similar to paper - hence the collection name.
Tyvek is a lightweight fabric that is strong, water resistant, breathable, and machine washable. The Paper Wear line includes fabulous dresses, vests, shorts, pants and jackets with drawn detailing of buttons, pockets, zippers and collars.
House-Wear, the creators of the Paper Wear line, follow the principals of Slow Fashion, similar to the Slow Food movement, in creating their clothing line
“Our designs are hand drawn, hand printed and made locally. Slow Fashion is about considering every stage of production, and designing products that will endure more than one season,” explains the designer.
Paper Wear also takes responsibility for the lifespan and disposal of their clothing line and encourages customers to send the clothing to the Tyvek Recycling Factory when they are finished with them.
