Necklaces made from recycled dollars give new meaning to American decadence. Created by designer Lauren Vanessa Tickle, the Value Exploration’s series Dollar Bill Necklaces epitomize vulgar displays of wealth.
Featuring denominations of US$14.50 (€11.20) or US$30 (€23.16), the elegant necklaces are made with silver, latex, monofilament and American greenbacks.
“What determines the wealth of a life? Why do we want to broadcast our worth? My work is an opportunity to explore this subconscious,” explains the artist website of the project. “Dissecting currency leaves the essentials – chipboard, decorative paper and an altered graphic design - a far cry from added economic value.”
