The Gulf Oil Spill has inspired a lot of people to get creative with oil in a bid to raise awareness and funds for clean up efforts. Enter Kansas resident Steve Brooker who decided to use some of the spilled oil for t-shirt designs and in necklaces. The oil spill t-shirts feature a small amount of oil mixed in with the printing ink and the necklaces have tiny vials filled with oil and water.
“Oil used to print the t-shirts or contained in our vial necklaces won't be in the Gulf anymore and that’s a good thing,” explains the website. “Admittedly, the amounts of oil used are small and meant to be symbolic. By purchasing our Gulf Oil Necklaces and T-Shirts you show that you are doing your part to help clean up this mess.”
A portion of the proceeds benefit environmental groups Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research, National Wildlife Federation and the National Audubon Society.
