Fashion meets bad taste in a highly controversial new fashion editorial "Water & Oil" by American photographer Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia. The 24-page photo story features model Kristen McMenamy replicating the various oil covered bird images that have been in the news.
Trivializing the Deepwater Horizon explosion, and the subsequent tragedy that unfolded into the worst environmental disaster in US history, to sell clothes, signals a new low in an already vapid industry.
