For all the eco-fashionistas out there – Coco Eco Magazine has their holiday issue online. The holiday issue features Haute Holiday Fashion, vintage apparel, seasonal food, Green Christmas Giving and their regular food, travel and hot autos section.
Coco Eco Magazine was founded by green journalist Anna Griffith in 2008 and is rapidly becoming an internet sensation. The online green magazine is a terrific model for the future of magazines. Online magazines offer the same favourite fashion articles without the toxic paper dyes, steep carbon footprint to print and distribute the magazines, and there are no recycling issues and damaging consumption of paper.
More than 370 million tons of paper products are used each year in the world. The paper trade is considered to be a non-sustainable industry as there are not enough wood resources to continue to supply global paper demand indefinitely—more than 50% of the world’s forests have been destroyed or converted to non-forest use.
If the United States cut office paper use by just 10% it would prevent the release of 1.6 million tons of greenhouse gases — the equivalent of taking 280,000 cars off the road according to The State of the Paper Industry, published by American paper watchdog group The Environmental Paper Network.
