Camila Labra is a Chilean designer who has come up with an innovative way to upcycle recycled plastic bags into hip, fashionable footwear. The young eco-designer chooses to works with materials that would otherwise end up discarded in the trash. Past projects using reclaimed or recycled materials include PVC jackets and tables made from recycled cardboard tubes.

But back to her funky footwear that is making eco-waves on the internet. Her sassy Dacca ankle boots come in a variety of colors and are all made from recycled plastic bags. The boot’s name comes from Dhaka, Bangladesh’s capital, one of the most polluted plastic bag places on the planet, reports Treehugger.com.
