Created for children, the Villa Julia from Spanish designer Javier Mariscal, is a cardboard house that kids can assemble themselves (with a little help from adults). Modeled after American single-family dwellings from the 50s, the child scale house is large enough to host friends and a few simple furnishings.
“One of children’s favorite games is to build themselves a house using a big cardboard box, four stakes and a blanket or any other object at their disposal,” explains design firm Estudio Mariscal. “The most important thing is to have a house on their own scale, a small house made to their measure, where children can hide and play, sheltered by walls and a roof.”
