The Modularean Eco House is a one-of-a-kind dollhouse design created for a Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation fundraiser by famed architect David Baker of David Baker + Partners Architects based in San Francisco.
Although the architects have no plans to mass produce the dollhouse nor turn it into a full-size eco-house for adults, the Modularean Eco House is a playful and sustainable art piece that was designed to be used.
The David Baker design was built by woodworker Julianna Sassaman, the modern, low-impact home is made from ecologically farmed bamboo, finished with a low-VOC soy resin and has floor to ceiling panels that open to the environment. Balanced on one caster wheel, the house can be rolled onto its drought-tolerant yard of green outdoor carpeting, dotted with circular gravel basins to manage the imaginary storm-water runoff.
“We hope the Modularean Eco House inspires you to keep your footprint light and your imagination limber,” explained the architects of the dollhouse.
