The Power-Hog design concept is a power consumption metering piggy-bank that attempts to teach kids the financial costs associated with using electronic devices. To use the Power-Hog, you plug the tail into the electrical outlet and the electrical device into the snout; and feed a coin into the meter for thirty minutes of use.
It is unfortunate that the Power-Hog can’t also teach children the environmental costs associated with using electrical devices and/or wasting electricity.
The Power-Hog was an entry in the 2009 Greener Gadgets Design Competition.
