A living grass table from FamilyChic blogger Camilla Fabbri is a great summer DIY project. Created by adapting an existing metal table, the project requires a strip of sod, a burlap bag and regular watering to create this fun piece of living furniture.

Delight idea, but surely it would be far better to use a hardy, evergreen, drought-tolerant ground cover instead of grass? There are any number of great perennial ground covers around -- the flat-growing thymus praecox comes immediately to mind, with its bonus of spring flowers. Once established, these wouldn't need nearly the amount of watering, let alone clipping, fertilizing etc. etc. and thus far more friendly for the environment and the homeowner because of its easier care. Cheers.
