The Mobile Garden concept from American artist Joe Baldwin is an amazing green idea – a rail car garden teeming with greenery that the Chicago Transit Authority drags around town.
Although the Mobile Garden project will be visually appealing and certainly greenspace is a much needed addition in urban areas, but the additional weight and drag created by a train hauling around a flat bed filled with dirt and plants does result in increased energy consumption that may make this project a tad ‘ungreen’.
Clearly, the Chicago Transit Authority appreciates the possible attributes of this project as they have given it the green light.
