The On-iku (Hot Spring Growing) experiment grew native plants in local hot spring water and has proven to be a big benefit to the plants, as shown by Japanese landscape designers Earthscape.

In an old wooden apartment in Beppu, Japan, the Earthscape team hoped to confirm that the water helped the plants and animals grow better. Beppu has the largest number of onsen (hot springs) in Japan.

In Beppu Art Month 2011, Earthscape will show their vegetation survey as an exhibit called “On-iku” continuing until December 4th, 2011 at Earthscape Lab/Kiyoshima Apartment #1 2-27 Suehirochou Beppu city, Oita, Japan.
