Winnipeg, Canada is the apt setting for the Winter Garden tree grove winter art installation, situated alongside the world’s longest natural skating trail, the Assiniboine Credit Union River Trail.

Israeli architects Talmon Biran’s design Woodpile uses sixteen trees a square four by four grid formation. The design was the winning entrant in The Forks' International Warming-Hut-Design Competition and is constructed from deadfall wood, featuring a spatial framed wood hut with walls that use stacked wood and a central fire-pit.

The Woodpile hut will also serve as a cozy location for Assiniboine skaters to rest from the rigors of skating.
