Will bubbles save us? Well, Harvard University physicist Russell Seitz thinks so. The physicist recently announced at a geoengineering conference that he may have discovered a possible solution for global climate change that involves pumping simple water bubbles into the oceans.
The theory is that when the non-invasive microbubbles are injected into the world’s oceans they will “…act as mirrors made of air” which will reflect sunlight and heat away from the water, resulting in a significant cooling effect of up to 3°C.
However, the details on how to implement Seitz’s idea to turn the planet’s oceans into the world’s largest bubble bath are yet to be determined.
