Purchasing a bottle of water and oil from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill might seem like the last thing any sane person would want to do, but an American-based charity is selling the oil water to raise funds for local workers.
HorizonRelief.org is asking for donations to assist the many workers who are unemployed due to the spill and unable to apply for government assistance or petition BP for compensation. In return, you will receive a bottle of the oil water as a keepsake of the environmental disaster.
“Plant owners, fishermen, and companies affected have easy access to various forms of aid…,” the Horizon Relief site explains. “But the deck hands, plant workers, and day laborers of the seafood industry are not so easily supported. The irony of those who are most vulnerable being hit hardest is one that accompanies most disasters and this oil spill is certainly no exception.”
