These stunning Globaia images show our influence on Earth as population grows, cities expand, while global transport and energy infrastructure expand to keep pace. The images are the result of 13 years of research by Canadian anthropologist Felix Pharand-Deschenes.

The image series show transportation links, internet and telecom networks, power transmission grids and the spread of humanity over the surface of the Earth, and into the sky.

Pharand-Deschenes, founder of Globaia, used data from the Geospatial Intelligence Agency and Atmospheric Administration overlaid with night-time images of Earth's cities to illustrate the extent of humanity’s footprint on the planet.
