The Global Tree Project, by Japanese artist Shinji Turner-Yamamoto, fosters an appreciation for trees by creating site-specific living tree art installations. The trees sculptures, realized with the assistance of the local community, are selected, transported, set up in the art space, cared for during the duration of the exhibit, and finally replanted when the installation is finished.

“By taking tree out of its natural context,” explains the artist. “I invite viewers to experience nature in a novel more contemplative way.”
The Global Tree Project has exhibited in Finland, India, Japan and Ireland.
