Pakistan’s Amazing Spider Trees

After the devastating flooding of 2010, with more than a fifth of Pakistan covered in floodwaters, spiders needed refuge as well. The fleeing spiders sought shelter in available trees in the region of Sindh and have covered entire trees and bushes with thick webs.

The spider trees, although surprising to see and undoubtedly uncomfortable for individuals with arachnophobia, have had the positive effect of keeping down malaria and other mosquito-borne diseases.
