Trees Have Rights Too

The Trees Have Rights Too Campaign was recently proposed to the United Nations at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, by British Barrister Polly Higgins, in a bid to encourage recognition and adoption of a Universal Declaration of Planetary Rights.

It’s not merely a matter of reducing emissions, but evolving and encouraging a benign world where we no longer cause damage, pollution and loss, explains Polly Higgins.

Increasingly, environmental organizations and individual citizens are turning to the legal system in an attempt to obtain accountability for the environmental inaction of many governments around the world.

“What is required is a seismic shift in our consciousness, rather than a mere reduction of emissions,” explains Polly Higgins.

The Trees Have Rights Too Campaign for a Universal Declaration of Planetary Rights equips people with the power to act now in caring for the planet. Their aim is to form a pressure group and encourage people to step forward and help save the planet from the climate crisis.
