The DropNet by Imke Hoehler.

More than 1.1 billion people lack access to clean safe drinking water. Imke Hoehler decided to do something about it. The German industrial designer created DropNet fog collector, a net-like device that captures and harvests clean drinking water from fog. Each DropNet unit has the potential to collect more than 10-20 liters (2.6 – 5.2 US gallons) of water a day.

DropNet is a fog collector, that can be a great help for the drinking water supply in isolated areas or areas with a low infrastructure just by using natural and local resources. The collector filters tiny water droplets from fog clouds and causes the droplets to coalesce,” explains Hoehler of her innovative and life-saving design.

The recent graduate of Germany’s Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design designed the DropNet so it is easy to install with unskilled labour and is perfect for isolated areas.
