Wind Up Water Clock

E-mail Print

The Water Clock by Kouichi Okamoto.

Using water and magnets, Shizuoka-based designer Kouichi Okamoto created a stunning Water Clock that requires no electricity.

The manual wind-up clock has magnets mounted on a mechanical clock mechanism in the lower rectangular box. The coloured balls are also magnetic and are pulled into the correct position as the hidden mechanical clock mechanism magnets rotate.

Water Clock will be on display as part of the Israeli State of Things – Design and the 21st Century exhibition at the Design Museum Holon until May 15th, 2010. The exhibit will feature more than 100 objects that reflect issues concerning the practice, consumption and cultural impact of contemporary international design.
