Obama declared winner of the 2008 elections by Tappening -all because he stopped drinking bottled water. Tappening's newest, and very provocative, advertising campaign taps into some pretty big issues – economics and the potential new president of the USA. Tappening – one of the national campaigns to promote tap water – recently released another provocative pro-tap water advertising campaign.
Their huge campaign, targeting media bought in over 110 community newspapers across the USA, will start running advertisements in early November proclaiming the provocative messages:
Congratulations on winning the election and switching to tap water, President-elect Obama.
President-elect Obama, you stopped drinking bottled water. Then you won the election. Coincidence?
Giving up bottled water is a significant contribution to reducing plastic use. Think Outside the Bottle works to encourage businesses and individuals to support a ban on bottled water. Their campaign estimates that meeting Americans’ demand for bottled water requires more than 17 million barrels of oil last year – enough fuel to operate more than 1 million US cars for one year – and generates more than 2.5 million tons of carbon dioxide. Unfortunately, the vast majority of plastic water bottles end up in local landfills, oceans and rivers. Plastic water bottles can take more than 700 years to decompose in the landfill.
No word yet, on what the Obama or McCain camps think of the early victory announcement.
