Windsor Castle.

England's most famous house - Windsor Castle is hosting an international group of religious delegates for the Celebration of Faiths and the Environment: Many Heavens, One Earth: Faith Commitments for a Living Planet meeting from November 2-4, 2009 and the menu is vegan for a day.

The efforts of catering to more than 200 faith and secular leaders from the world’s leading religions including leaders from the Baha’ism, Buddhism, Christianity, Daoism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Shintoism and Sikhism resulted in Windsor Castle deciding delicious vegan cuisine was the best menu option.

The meeting represents the first time in world history that an internationally coordinated commitment by the world religions to the environment has been organized. The Many Heavens, One Earth meeting comes one month before the Copenhagen Climate Change Summit in December.

Okay, sometimes your party is asking to be spoiled. People need to stop co-opting the words "go vegan." Windsor Castle isn't going vegan. They're hosting a vegan meal. To say that Windsor Castle "goes vegan" is the equivalent of claiming YOU are "going vegan" just because you ate a fruit salad for dinner. It's bothering me. "Go vegan" may be a catchy phrase, but it still means something other than "catchy phrase."

Don't be so naive - it's a headline - meant to grab your attention - like the majority of other headlines in the media. I suppose you think "Windsor Castle Hosts Religious Leaders From Around The World For One Off Vegan Lunch" would have been a better headline?

Windsor castle is the premier castle of England as well as its largest. It was founded by William the Conqueror, who adopted the typical Norman design of motte and bailey, and was first used as a royal residence by Henry I. The highly visible landmark of the castle, the Round Tower (A), is in reality far from cylindrical, its shape being dictated by the irregular, but seemingly round, artificial hill on which it sits.
