Food packaging that encourages you to make the transition from consumer to chef to urban gardener is the focus of a new design innovation by UK-based designer Sam Stevens. Dubbed Taste, the unique system helps bridge the gap between supermarket and field, instantly transforming every kitchen into a mini farm contributing to a more sustainable food system.

“We are becoming increasingly dependent on convenience food, perhaps to the point where we couldn’t run our lives without them. Taste directly addresses these issues with the aim to ‘upskill’, empowering the individual whilst cooking,” explains Stevens’ website.
The Taste food-packaging planters contains the ingredients to prepare a meal, complete with a corresponding recipe designed to ensure your cooking experience is as fail safe and pleasant as possible. Once the ingredients have been transformed into a delicious meal, the cardboard packaging easily converts into small-scale planters that are perfectly sized for growing kitchen herbs.
