Have you ever asked yourself if you can you still be fabulous, fun and green? If so, there is a hot new guide eco-guide book to help you navigate the great green world and still look fabulous. Gorgeously Green: 8 Simple Steps to an Earth-Friendly Life by Sophie Uliano, with a foreword by Julia Roberts, is a flirty lifestyle guide geared towards eco-city gals who want to live a very full life without harming the planet.

Seems like a tall order, but Uniano does her very best to provide as much information and resources as greenly possible to help you on your eco-path.

Gorgeously Green is divided into 8 chapters devoted to Becoming Aware (learning just what the main green issues are); Green Goddess (how to green your beauty regime); Your Green Temple (green your body with a yoga/fitness program); Soulful Shopping (how to buy with a conscious); Your Palace: Creating The Home You Deserve (how to have a safe, toxic free home); Every Last Bite (green your eating and cooking habits); Out And About Having Fun (everything you wanted to know about transportation, entertainment and gift giving); and last but not least, Go Supergreen (how to become an activist).

I was surprised by how much I liked this book. Uliano is not some vapid city gal suggesting we can all consume as much as we want as long as we buy hemp panties or vegan lipstick. The eco-message in Gorgeously Green is much more expansive and places quite a lot of emphasis on health and well being as part of going green. She also includes information on animal rights, organic eating, living with less and how to become an activist. Gorgeously Green walks the fabulously fine line of being motivational, upbeat and factual without being too perky and oversimplified.

Gorgeously Green is written in accessible and engaging language while offering some damn fine research backing up all of Uliano’s rationales in favour of going green. This is a great book for gals, particularly for those individuals who are ready to go a bit deeper in their environmental journey.
