New Green Film Festival

To help spread the good green word and promote environmental awareness, the Going Green Film Festival recently launched its call for entries for their March 2010 festival.

The Going Green Film Festival is the first festival of its kind to focus solely on “green” filmmaking. The festival is targeting filmmakers who are using alternative materials, methods and environmentally friendly practices both in the office and on sets.

“More than ever, it is critical for the film industry—whether big budget or independent—to contribute towards environmental preservation,” explained festival founder Patrice Williams.

The three main categories of the festival include Green Production, where a film’s production worked to lessen the carbon footprint left on the planet (with documentation of this process); Our Planet, where the film’s topic covers third world issues, ecology, nature or the environment; and Hybrid/Alternative Transportation where the film features a hybrid vehicle, bicycle, electric scooter or public transportation.

Films can be any genre, but must be between 20 minutes and 120 minutes in length and have been completed between 2008 and 2010.
