United States First Lady Michelle Obama is turning her White House garden project and healthy eating campaign into a book published by Crown Publishing, a unit of Random House, in 2012. With all proceeds going to charity, the garden book will help answer the many questions and queries the Obama family gets about the fruit and veggie garden located on the south lawn of the White House grounds.
"We wanted to share the story with the rest of the nation and perhaps with the rest of the world, because we get so many questions about the garden: How did we do it? Why did we do it? How do I do this in my own home or community?" Michelle Obama explained in a press release.
The White House edible garden book will also contain gardening tips and Obama family recipes, as well as photographs from the kitchen garden and other community and school gardens throughout the USA.
To date, the White House garden has produced more than 2,000lbs (907kgs) of produce in addition to serving as an education hub for school children to learn more about food sustainability and healthy eating.
