Have you ever wondered what one-second, a mere one-second of America’s bottled water consumption looks like? Well, wonder no more. Visit the eco-art installation Watershed made out of 1500 plastic water bottles, the number representing one second of US consumption, at the global premiere of the film The Age of Stupid on September 21st. Watershed, designed by Sheri L Koetting, will be on stage during the film opening.
"When thinking of making a change to be more eco-friendly, abandoning plastic water bottles is a great place to start. Not only is it good for the environment, it saves you money, and we have the best quality drinking water coming right out of taps," explains Watershed designer Sheri L Koetting.
In the past decade, the bottled water industry has grown immensely and so have its environmental repercussions. Out of the 50 billion bottles of water being bought each year, 80% end up in a landfill and an estimated 17 million barrels of oil are used in producing bottled water each year.
The Watershed Exhibit will be at The Age of Stupid on September 21st at 6 pm at the Trade Center Marina and on September 26th from 3-6 pm at 20 Jay Street, in Brooklyn.
