In an effort to provide soccer balls to children in improvised communities, Unplug Design Studio, based in Seoul, has created an innovative soccer ball made out of recycled famine relief packaging and boxes. The Dream Ball is made from the aid boxes used to ship medicine and food to developing nations.
After the relief packaging has served its primary purpose, it can be transformed into different types of balls depending on the size of the boxes. The soccer balls are made by hand, cutting the perforated cardboard boxes and weaving the pieces together.
The Dream Ball will be exhibited at the Designersblock London 2009 from September 24-27th. Designersblock London 2009 takes place during the London Design Festival alongside 100% Design in Earls Court One.
