Obama's Eco-Doghouse

Summa Canum,  (Latin for Top Dog) is an eco-friendly dog home created by the Sustainable Pet Design Company to house the First Family’s new dog in eco-style.

The Summa Canum: Obama Dog Home is handmade with salvaged wood, includes a living roof, zero or low VOC paints, caulks and waterproofing. The house features a flying pediment and the Obama logo sandblasted into the finish.

The Obama Dog Home originated as a gift from the Sustainable Pet Design Company and grew into Project Summa Canum—a group of people working together to promote green strategies. An environmentally responsible lumberyard, a specialty plant nursery, a chemical-free paint store and bio-fuel suppliers have all donated materials to make the sustainable doghouse a reality. Rock-n-roll legend, Neil Young has even offered to drop the doghouse off at the White House.

Young is driving across the country in his energy-efficient 1959 Lincoln Continental to promote environmentally friendly vehicles, and Summa Canum will be riding along in the convoy. The trip ends at the White House where he will be delivering the sustainable doghouse to the First Family.

Project Summa Canum is hoping to raise awareness about environmentalism and sustainability through The Obama Dog Home.
