Reminiscent of a giant dinosaur egg, this eco-resort also doubles as an urban wind tower. Created by Germany-based architect Richard Moreta, in conjunction with American Michael Rosenthal Designs, the Envision Green Hotel was created for the Hospitality Design’s Radical Innovation design contest.

The Envision Green Hotel is designed to function like a living being, with naturally flowing air exchange systems and interior gardens that help condition the air. The exterior walls are covered with photovoltaic cells to provide renewable power, along with the wind turbines that provide power to the heating and cooling system. Water catchment ponds and recycled water catchment provide firebreaks, decorative features, and garden irrigation.

Efficient material use within the hotel minimizes construction wastage. Non-toxic and low off-gassing materials are used throughout. LED lighting reduces power consumption, while the LED illuminated walls are used to create mood lighting and to indicate the progression of time by changing color throughout the night.
