Medicinal and fragrant herbs are planted in the shape of an enormous human-shaped garden for the Medical Herbman Café Project (MHCP). Each part of the herbal garden contains herbs and plants that correspond to the parts of the body they benefit, with the garden operating as a living encyclopaedia of herbal knowledge.

The MHCP, created by Japanese landscape designers Earthscape, travels as a portable project to Japanese cities. The entire project actually fits neatly into recycled shipping containers that then double as the café, kitchen and craft spaces. In each new location, Earthscape plants a new Herbman garden and sells herbal drinks and foods from the recycled shipping container café.
Each location is left with a large-scale, living human-shaped herbal encyclopaedia and all proceeds from this amazing project are used to construct playgrounds for schools in developing countries.
