For the first time, as part of First Lady Michelle Obama’s healthy and local eating project, honey is being produced at the White House, More than 65,000 bees have created a bumper crop of honey this year, producing more than 134lbs (60.8kgs) of honey (an estimated 11 gallons/41.6liters) according to the New York Times.
The hives started producing honey in April of 2009 and the honey flavors included clover, black locust, basswood and cherry tree.
The White House honey is being spread far and wide with small jars given to the spouses of the world leaders at the G-20 Summit, donations made to local food banks and most recently the White House honey was used to make Halloween cookies for visitors.

I have been following this very closely and sincerely hope they kept some of the honey for themselves. To experience first hand the benefits of honey.
